Sıla Yalazan Londan & Istanbul
Yalazan, Turkish visual artist based in Istanbul. After studying Print & Graphic Design in South Africa and Fashion Design in New York (FIT), she went on to study Visual Arts in Melbourne, Australia. Returning to Turkey, she started working from her studio in Tarlabaşı and took part in the exhibition "Growing up in a Metropolis" at Studio X, a project by Columbia University’s Faculty of Architecture.
She published her first photography book "Tarlabaşı Vs Gezi" in Australia with Knowledge Editions, which participated in the New York Book Fair (MoMA) and Melbourne Book Fair (National Gallery of Melbourne).
Her first solo exhibition, "Forbidden Games", was presented at Kıraathane Istanbul Literature House in 2019 and later featured in the 212 International Photography Festival in 2020.Her photograph "Komotini" was selected by Tate Modern as part of the "Beyond Surrealism" exhibition and displayed during the Tate Late Night events in March 2022.
In 2024, she exhibited her first solo show in London, "Flowers in Concrete", at Photobook Café, Shoreditch, and presented her installation "Forbidden Games" (From Tarlabaşı to Oxford Streets) at Fusion Arts, Oxford.
